Diagnostic Services
Consultation – This service is provided to the patient and their family/caregivers to determine a specific plan of action following a medical diagnosis that has negatively impacted speech, language, and/or swallowing abilities or to review prior evaluations and treatments. Consultations may also include discussions with families and other health care or medical professionals. No evaluation or treatment services are provided during a consultation visit.
Evaluation – Evaluations are provided for adult and geriatric patients. The comprehensive assessment combines standardized and nonstandard testing to determine the individual’s degree of impairment, potential for rehabilitation, and specific communication and/or swallowing needs.
- Speech - Language Evaluation
- Cognitive - Linguistic Evaluation
- Dysphagia Evaluation (Oral and Pharyngeal Swallow)
Therapy/Training Services
Treatment – Upon completion of the evaluation process, a determination will be made as to degree of impairment. An individualized treatment plan will be designed to meet the patient's specific needs. Collaboration with the patient, family and caregivers will establish goals to facilitate the patient in achieving the highest level of functioning within their home and community environment. Programs are implemented on an individualized schedule to meet the therapeutic needs of the patient.
Training – Many times our adult and geriatric patients are not candidates for individual therapy. Their needs are met at home by family and caregivers. Specialized training sessions are developed and implemented to meet the patient’s communication and eating needs. These sessions include analysis of the patient’s environment, daily communication interactions, and eating patterns. The training of family and caregivers becomes critical to maintaining the quality of life for the patient.
